Kent Brown ~ 100 Things Illinois Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die
Longtime University of Illinois Sports Information Director and Atwood-Hammond High School graduate Kent Brown will present a short program and discussion about his recently published book, “100 Things Illinois Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die” at 11 am on Saturday, April 26, at the Atwood-Hammond Public Library in Atwood. The program will conclude with a book signing for anyone interested. Books will be available at the event for $20 each.
Kent Brown, a native of Hammond, Ill. and 1981 AHHS graduate has a long history of family members from the Atwood and Hammond communities dating to the 1890s. Brown has more than 38 years of experience in collegiate sports, including 34 years with the Fighting Illini. He retired from his full-time career in the summer of 2023 and currently serves as the Illini Athletics Historian and an adjunct lecturer on the University of Illinois campus.
With traditions, records, and lore, this lively, detailed book explores the personalities, events, and facts every University of Illinois sports fan should know. It contains essential information such as historic dates, behind-the-scenes tales, memorable moments, and Champaign landmarks.
